Okay so I didn’t always take the best care of my negatives when I was younger, I don’t really know how but over the years I’ve lost at least 3 sets of b&w rolls of film I developed. I’m not sure if they accidentally got thrown away in the couple of times I’ve moved, or if I left them in enlargers across Sacramento…but somewhere there is a roll of negatives containing half naked self portraits of moi, the best portrait I’ve ever taken of my niece, and some random pictures of friends I took in high school. Aside from the fact that I’m sad I lost some really great shots and the ONLY way I can reprint them is by doing contact prints or scanning in the original print and digitally reprinting, but its ANNOYING that I lost them!! How irresponsible of me. This week I am vowing to myself to finally get organized before I lose all my prints! God forbid there was ever a fire in my apartment because I have my negatives scattered in binders and boxes. No amount of insurance money could ever replace those memories.
In other news, I’ve been kind of quiet here and I apologize but I’ve been trying to survive 6 day work weeks, sleep, family and school (which I’m totally failing my class right now). I have this week to finish my prints and get them ready to hang by monday and then after that I can finally breathe and put the finishing touches on my goodsie shop. The prints will be available for purchase through Vox Sac while they are on display for the month of March, or through my goodsie shop. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to do shipping because its just so damn expensive. But anyway, every month I’m going to be adding more inventory of my favorite prints, maybe 2 or so a month- its kind of expensive so I have to budget.
I’m already trying to think up ideas for the May show for Breast Cancer awareness. My mom is a breast cancer survivor so we’re trying to work out something creative and classy. Stay tuned!
